Filling out the Forest fleet with a new hydrovac truck for advanced approach to site servicing

Forest Group has called up a new all-star recruit to the excavation majors: the hydrovac truck, a powerhouse construction vehicle designed to make site servicing cleaner, safer, and more efficient than ever.

Think of hydrovac trucks as the Swiss Army Knives of the excavation industry. They combine the functions of hydraulic excavators and backhoes with the precision of hand tools and the power of commercial slurry vacuums to deliver unparalleled results.

Here’s how our newest investment can enhance excavation and utility site servicing operations for your commercial construction project, from small scale builds to towering complex developments.

1. Hydrovac excavation

This method of excavation uses high-pressure water streams to break up soil and other in-ground materials, simultaneously employing a high-volume vacuum to remove resulting detritus.

Armed with precision control capabilities, using hydrovac technology minimizes soil disruption and damage in smaller areas and can remove large masses of material as needed.

These trucks come stacked with advanced safety features like integrated cameras, advanced lighting systems, and emergency stop buttons, keeping the working environment secure and safe for operators and other construction workers on site.

2. Utility daylighting

With hydrovac technology, site servicing that requires exposing underground utilities can be carried out with limited risk of damaging existing infrastructure.

Compared to mechanical excavation or even hand digging, this approach can eliminate up to 75% of damages seen in the utility industry, caused by errant shovel strikes.

3. Manhole and catch basin cleaning

Manholes are integral to protecting and accessing closed drainage systems like sanitary sewer networks that need to be inspected and cleared regularly to maintain optimal function and safety. It’s not just construction materials that can clog these systems – they can accumulate leaves, garbage and even root systems over time, or become congested from the inside if a system overflows.

Catch basins, on the other hand, are part of open drainage systems that stymie stormwater with grates which can become clogged with silt and other contaminants.

With areas of Ontario facing increased flooding events, it’s more important than ever to keep drainage systems clean and free-flowing during the construction phase and beyond. Our hydrovac truck can target these kinds of debris with high-power water pressure systems without causing structural decay or fractures, keeping covers, frames and pipes intact and effectively sealed.

4. Sanitary line cleaning

Our new hydrovac truck can be deployed to maintain clean and efficient sanitary systems from buildup like fatbergs, the result of debris mixing with cooking oils, grease and other materials that make their way into the sewer system.

At Forest Group, we’re proud to invest in technology that helps us work smarter to deliver exceptional results for your project. Our brand-new hydrovac truck is ready to support your industrial or commercial construction needs, whether it’s new development or infrastructure maintenance.
